How to send bulk WhatsApp messages in India without getting banned

12 October 2026 · 2 min read · BTAV Connect team

Many businesses try cheap "WhatsApp bulk sender" software or browser extensions and lose their number within days. WhatsApp detects automated sending from ordinary accounts and bans them. The only safe way to message many customers is the official WhatsApp Business API, following a few rules.

1. Collect opt-in first

Only message people who agreed to hear from you on WhatsApp. Good ways to collect opt-in:

  • A checkbox on your website or checkout form: "Send me updates on WhatsApp".
  • A WhatsApp chat button on your website, so customers message you first.
  • Asking during a conversation and saving the answer on the contact.
  • Click-to-WhatsApp ads on Facebook and Instagram.

2. Use approved templates

Every message you start must use a template that Meta has approved. Write templates that are clear about who you are, personalise them with the customer's name, and add buttons such as "Shop now" or "Stop promotions" so people can act or opt out with a tap.

3. Watch your quality rating

Meta rates each number Green, Yellow or Red based on how customers react. If many people block or report you, the rating drops, and Meta may pause the template or limit your number. Keep it green by:

  • Sending fewer, more relevant messages instead of daily blasts.
  • Segmenting your list, for example sending a Delhi offer only to Delhi customers.
  • Making it easy to opt out, and honouring opt-outs immediately.
  • Avoiding all-caps text, too many emojis and misleading offers.

4. Grow your messaging limit gradually

New numbers can start conversations with a limited number of unique customers per day. Meta raises the limit automatically as you keep sending good-quality messages, and verifying your business helps you reach higher limits sooner. Plan big festive campaigns with this in mind and start warming up your number a few weeks early.

5. Measure and improve

Track delivered, read and replied counts for every campaign. If a template gets low reads or many opt-outs, rewrite it before sending it again. Testing two versions of a message with A/B variants quickly shows which one works better.

In BTAV Connect, campaigns show live delivery and read status, contacts can be grouped into segments, and opt-outs are respected automatically.
